Chromebooks Now Have Minecraft Education Edition

Microsoft has brought the education version of its blocky game Minecraft to Chromebooks just at the right time so that students can return to school.



Available on Monday, Minecraft: Education Edition for Chromebook has the same features that are available in the Windows, iPad and Mac versions of the game, and includes multiplayer across platforms, the company said. The version geared towards education is designed to aid teachers in teaching everything from science, technology engineering and math (STEM), to history, language, and art. According to Microsoft the game is licensed by thousands across 115 countries.



Microsoft announced that the game is now available on Chromebooks and that the latest update includes new STEM lessons and an "special Minecraft world" created by the American Beekeeping Federation's Kids and Bees Program.



Minecraft: Education Edition for Chromebook requires a Microsoft account to sign in The game is licensed by schools via Microsoft 365 for Education -however, the company has said it is working to let users login with a Google account, too.
