Minecraft on PC has traditionally been available to download in two separate editions called the Java Edition and the Bedrock Edition. This will be changing on June 7, however, since both versions will be available to purchase together on PCs.



You might be wondering what this means for you. It's just a tiny difference. You can now get both editions of Minecraft in one purchase. This means that you'll only get one vanilla version of Minecraft on Windows right now. You don't need to worry whether you have Java or Bedrock editions. Mojang has announced that all players with either Java Edition or Bedrock Edition will be able to get the edition they do not currently own for free, and right from the Minecraft Launcher. It could take up to three days for it to appear however.



Jave and Bedrock will continue to be their own games with a variety of features. Minecraft skins There are no changes to the features. The only difference is that you'll end up getting both by default when you purchase Minecraft on your Windows PC Both versions are in the same launcher.



To remind you, although Java is available only on PC, Mac and Linux systems Bedrock Edition is available on all platforms. Bedrock Edition is available on PC and mobile devices (Android, iOS, Windows 10 mobile ), and on various consoles including Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and many more. Java is the most flexible version of Minecraft on PC, but it doesn't allow cross-platform play. Also, the Java Edition has a higher performance threshold and tends appear a bit better on gaming PCs with higher specs as opposed to the Bedrock Edition is designed to play with ease and has shorter load times.
