SOLVED Difficulty With Minecraft Server

This is another "cant' set up a Minecraft server" post ... I hope someone is capable of helping. The short version is that the server works on my computer, but not his.

Our computers are wired via Ethernet cable directly to ASUS RT–AC86U router. His IP address for local use is 192.168.50.166.

The port forwarding settings are:

Service Name: Minecraft Source IP (blank). Memes Rain Port Range: 2565 Local IP: 192.168.50.166 Port: 25565 TCP : BOTH

When he plays Minecraft on his personal computer and connects directly to 192.168.50.166 and connects. If the user enters an external IP (obtained via the "Network Map" page in the router settings) it will give the error message:

Failed to connect to the server io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection timed out: no further information

If I try to connect my computer to 192.168.50.166 I get exactly the same error message from Minecraft.

But here's the real kicker ... Everything works when I run the server on my computer (192.168.50.48), and change the Local IP port forward settings according to my needs. I can connect to the Minecraft server using either my local IP or an external IP.
